Gas & Electric leads the way in new solar capacity , according to the Solar Electric Power Association's (SEPA) annual ranking of the 10 U.S. utilities adding the most solar capacity to the grid. Far more than other utility companies. Electricity is integrated into the grid and solar network . In 2012 , its system incorporated new solar power , which provides the most sunlight in terms of wattage per customer .
The rankings are part of the sixth annual Utility Solar Rankings report . The full report , which will be released in May 2013 , identifies key solar industry trends in 2012 , such as total installed capacity, market share and industry growth rate.
The top ten global utilities share SEPA's solar MW installed capacity accounted for 73% of total installed capacity in 2012 , slightly higher than in 2011 .
The top three megawatt companies include Telegram Number Data some of the nation's largest utilities - California Pacific Gas & Electric , Southern California Edison and Public Service Electric & Gas. ( New Jersey), often ranks high in this category due to its high cost. Customer Solar Program and Utility Procurement Program . All utilities in the top 10 were on the list in 2011 , with the exception of Progress Energy Carolinas , which is on the list for the first time this year. This is the fifth year that Pacific Gas & Electric has topped the list.

Many municipal utilities rank high in solar wattage per customer , including the City of St. Mary's, Ohio, Kauai Utility Cooperative, Hawaii, and Blaine, Ohio Municipal Utilities . Neither Ohio utility had previously been ranked, with Kauai rising from No. 12 in the 2011 rankings.
